study break

next wednesday i have an anatomy and a chemistry test. i love how they're ending up on the same day again! anyway, i've been studying ideal gas law and thermochemistry, and i think my brain's about to explode. so, i thought i'd update on some stuff.

we did some work on the house this weekend, and ta da, next week we will be getting our dishwasher installed. HOORAY! doc installed this door:

to our basement. he's so awesome! he put in the doorknob and hinges, and it looks so good. plus, now we can put the cats in the basement at night without blocking the stairs with the huge cardboard box we were using!

he also installed this doorknob on our back door:

after we had a small miscommunication and locked ourselves out of the house. we called the locksmith, but the $100 minimum made doc take extreme measures--and an axe--to the doorknob. he said "i've seen in the movies a million times, i'm just glad it worked." plus, the knob cost $8 and just a few minutes of labor. way cheaper than the locksmith! (next project: those curtains on the back door! yuck!)

i was anxiously awaiting my 16th birthday. ironically i never got asked on dates after, only tons before. i also visited las vegas on a band trip, and got my first speeding ticket, not in vegas. i think the crush of the moment was jack.

my funny valentines

happy valentines day! i know it's a pretty cheesy, commercial holiday, but who doesn't need a reminder to be grateful for the love in their life? i'm really lucky to have such a cute, fun family. tonight, doc and i had a yummy, homemade steak dinner. we dimmed the lights, lit some candles, and ate all together as a family. sillygirl had a blast, and even sat with us for a little while before taking off. now it's back to the grind... doc has a neuro exam tomorrow, and since he's been out with the flu for a good part of the week, he's trying to get all his studying done! i'm supposed to be doing spanish homework, but i'm procrastinating. just a little, i promise i'm getting to it!

i got my chem test back... 74%. not too stellar. i guess next time i have an anatomy test and a chem test on the same day i should divide my study time little more evenly....

ARGGGH THE FLU!

okay, it has officially descended on our house. doc has the nasty flu. sillygirl and i are still feeling fine, and r (my brother who has been visiting) had a flu shot, so hopefully he'll make it out of here infection free. so, i guess we'll just be holed up at home for a few days and hope we don't share with everyone!

heck yah i'm bragging

i just got my grade back for my first human anatomy test, 100%! just when i started to wonder if i was in over my head... well, i probably am. but at least i'm getting the grades i need for nursing school! here's a small sample of what i was tested on:

in other news, my brother is here visiting for the week before he reports to the mtc at the end of the month. it's weird to think that he's old enough to go on a mission. i remember when he was born! he was my first brother and it was VERY exciting. here's a photo of us at christmas in 1988:

that's obviously me holding him. he's going to the montreal french speaking mission, so i'll need to brush up so that i can write to him in french. anyway, i'm really glad he came out to say good-bye, we obviously won't be making it to boise for the unfarewell. i'm also really proud of him, we were worried that the three older sisters would mess him up for good!

ship's ahoy!

in just a few short weeks i will be aboard this ship sailing through the caribbean! okay, nine weeks. but how else would i make it through this last, hardest part of winter? i wouldn't!

we're going to do the ruins shore excursion in cozumel. i'm excited! it's really cool that we're studying the book of mormon this year! it will be so neat to see those places.

obviously that's not us in the photo, i haven't been there yet! but someday soon....

i bought my tickets to miami. i wonder if doc would mind if i met up with my favorite south beach hottie and got a tat while i was waiting for my ship to board?
