Baby Update

I've been asked a lot about how I'm doing with the pregnancy, so I thought I'd give a brief update since I had my 22 week appointment yesterday.  It's boring: everything is going well.  The baby is VERY wiggly and getting big enough for me to feel every single movement, most often when I lay down to go to bed.  My blood pressure is good, the baby's heartbeat is strong and consistent at 150-160 bpm (every appointment... it's already precise like its dad).

I feel great, as long as I go to bed early enough!  8 hours just isn't enough, so I just make sure to get an extra hour or so every night.  I'm having pretty bad lower back pain and stiffness.  Doc has had enough OMM (that's the manipulation techniques they teach osteopathic physicians) to diagnose that there's something wrong... but he said he needs a few more weeks to learn what to do about it!  Hopefully they'll skip to that part so he can fix me up.  Other than my back, I'm doing well.  I sleep well, I pee a lot, but I haven't had any nausea or edema (yet).

SillyGirl is still hellbent on having a sister.  She won't even entertain the idea of a brother.  I'm planning on bringing a new baby doll home for her regardless of our new baby's sex, so that she can have a baby girl named Ellie, even if we don't.  She's very funny about the baby, she often brings things to my belly "for the baby" like cookies, stickers, and toys.  Also, she has a really weird habit of wanting to talk to it in public-- and since they communicate through my belly button she tries to lift my shirt up.  It's lovely!  I think she's excited for the baby to come out, she asks about that a lot: "Mom!  Is the baby coming out?"  Unfortunately, 3 year olds don't have much concept of time, so when I say "Not for a few months, in the spring" that means absolutely NOTHING to her.

Anyway, that's the update.  I haven't gained any weight yet, just a large belly and big boobs (kind of hard to tell the difference from before pregnancy).  Things are going well, I feel good and am really glad to be in school, this pregnancy is going WAY faster than SillyGirl's!

In other news, we like our kids to be cool even before they enter the world, so we're going to see The Killers tonight.  Their first single, "Somebody Told Me," came out when SG was in utero and when we heard the song, she would go crazy.  We called her Party Boy (yes, like Jackass). Turns out she's a Party Girl, but oh well.  We also saw REM when she was a fetus.  So, in the rocking tradition, this baby will go to its first concert before breathing air!  I'm SOOOO excited. The Killers are one of my very favorite bands and knocks off one of the "bands to see before I die" on my list (next up, my boyfriend Dave Grohl and the FOOFIGHTERS).  Don't worry, I cleared the concert with my midwives... they said anything but heavy metal. (Apparently there are studies that show it causes fetal distress.  Take that GWAR.)  So, if you haven't seen or heard of The Killers, check out this video of them performing their new single "Human":

I know!  The show is going to be AWESOME!

DUDE- Be prepared to rock out with your cock out! The Killers were AWESOME when I saw them. What made us find out if they were touring and to buy tickets was watching THIS performance at the EMA. It's so so so awesome! The Killers are so one of my favorite bands. I'm so excited for you. Brandon Flowers is totally one of my celebrity crushes. That and Paul Rudd. So, have a good time!

I did rock out. No cock though, anatomically impossible frankly. It was an AMAZING show. Either that, or I need to get out more often.... Brandon Flowers is a great performer and the band sounded better live than recorded (which, in my opinion, is how it should be, not the other way around). We had a great time... though I'm still recovering from staying out so late past my bedtime. Now I just have to decide if I want to see Ben Folds next month....
