Huh. It's interesting that this article casts doulas in the role of "mother to the mother." It actually made me want to have my own mom at any (future) birthing that I decide to do. She's a R.N., in addition to being, well, my mom. Thanks for sharing the link.
Even though we didn't have enough money to get a doula and my friend was my doula instead, I seriously cannot place a price on having a doula! They are absolutely necessary! I think that is so cool that you are a doula! (hopefully you actually get this comment...I realize it's not exactly a new post)
This is our family blog. Doc is the dad, working on a DO and a PhD in neuroscience, so technically he's a double-doc. Mamadoula is a working doula and in school to become a nurse-midwife. Sillygirl is our funny daughter who makes our lives crazy and fun. Ashman is our newborn son who is generally happy, but keeps us on our toes. We live in Michigan, own a home, and have 1 very puppyish dog, Lemmy.
